1. Information received from the Women’s InterChurch Council of Canada about their upcoming 90th Anniversary celebration.

2. Information re: Interdenominational Ladies Days Out – June 3,4,5, at Camp Okema, sponsored by the ACW of the Diocese of Saskatchewan.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Prayer Partner – Rojeanne Chadwick had received a lengthy letter from Rev. Sue Oliver plus a couple of pictures taken at Christmas. Copies of the letter were passed out for members to read.

Kitchen:

(a) A quote from Milans was $100.00 to clean the kitchen. He also submitted letters of recommendation. They may even clean the kitchen floor.

Quote for painting the kitchen (walls, ceiling, and cupboards on the north side) was $2.00 per square foot.

Moved by Florence Stowell, seconded by Pat Hargrave to hire Milans to clean and paint the kitchen. Carried.

(b) Kitchen rugs – old ones have been thrown away. Anti-fatigue mats were bought which can be taken apart and stored when not being used. (They fit together like a puzzle)

(c) Tablecloths - Rosemarie Katzell has purchased the new material at half-price. Discussion followed on the size to cut the new tablecloths. There will be two cloths per eight foot table. The large serving table will have its own tablecloth. It was suggested we keep a couple of the long ‘old’ tablecloths to use at the Harvest Supper.

Social Action: no funerals. There was a kitchen rental only.

Life Membership: no report

Sunday School: no report

Vestry: Vestry is very concerned about a bill for paint submitted by the Day Care. Investigation is ongoing. A parishioner has approached Lenn Holliday to upgrade the hall acoustics and sound system. This parishioner will cover the cost of this project. The vestry is in favor of this in principal. Rev. Peter reported on the “Turning Hope into Action” initiative from the recent Synod. Rev. Peter attended the Healing and Reconciliation Day in Saskatoon and the book from that event is available from the office to anyone wishing to read it. Need to consult the Privacy Act and how it will affect information put on our new Web Site. Change in Sundays for PWRDF and Food

Bank: we will use the last Sunday of each month, alternating between the two, for example, April = Food Bank, May = PWRDF. A social committee/coordinator from Vestry is needed to plan events to be held twice each month in the parish hall. Hall rental committee still needs to meet. Discussion regarding quality of pictures in the Epistle – Rojeanne Chadwick to follow this up. Soul Sisters have volunteered to chair the Harvest Supper Committee. The Eclectic Supper Committee is in place.

Web site: Moved by Rosemarie Katzell, seconded by Mary Jean Dewald to include the ACW on the web site. Could include our catering menu as well as minutes of our monthly meetings.

Hospital Visiting & Shut-ins: Marj Maunsell and Evelyn Foster visited at River Heights Lodge. Mary Jean Dewald visited with Bea Bull at BDCC. Rojeanne Chadwick visited Josie Wood in Battlefords Union Hospital. Marj Tatchell has been moved to River Heights Lodge.

OLD BUSINESS

1. Lunches after church - we agreed to leave this for the month of May. We tentatively set June 1 for the next lunch – depending on when the Congregational Picnic is scheduled.

2. Annual ACW Diocesan Meeting & Friday Evening Supper

Rojeanne Chadwick read a report on attending this event (see attached). The afghan project will continue. Fifteen afghans were brought back to the Battlefords to be delivered to Battlefords Interval House and to the nursing homes. Rosemarie Katzell is back on the Diocesan Board as Public Relations person (newsletter).

The Western Deanery Candle was quite fragrant and was returned to Ruby Heidel.

3. Food Handler’s Course – coming up on May 7, 2008

4. Western Deanery Fellowship Day - very successful day. It was wonderful to meet Zandra Hafeez and Barbara Thomas from Guyana and to share good food and fellowship.

5. Mother’s Day Tea – May 10, 2008

Members agreed the ‘serving group’ should buy the serviettes. Red serviettes should be bought this time.

Moved by Rosemarie Katzell, seconded by Florence Stowell to purchase 5 bunches of helium balloons - red and yellow to be used at the Tea for decorations and then to be used by Rev. Peter for the Pentecost Service on Sunday (with his approval). Carried.

Door Prize – Marj Maunsell will talk to Gert Millbank about this.

Prices of baking were discussed and adjustments made.

Set up for the Tea will be Friday, May 9, 2008 at 1 p.m. ( Pat Hargrave, Marj Maunsell, Rojeanne Chadwick, Evelyn Foster, Rosemarie Katzell )

Next meeting: June 2, 2008
